Project summary:
This project aims at substantive analyses utilising the database of the National Educational Panel Study. Furthermore a database will be build to characterize the schools in the sample as well as their regional and federal contexts. The aim is to examine educational careers, especially transitions between tracks in the stratified system of secondary schools in Germany and their social selectivity. Data from the secondary school cohort (starting cohort 3) of the NEPS will be used where students are at the beginning of 5th grade. This proposal covers a period of three years, after which data will be available for each school year until the beginning of grade 7. An extension of the study is planned to continue until the end of compulsory (general)
education at the end of 9th grade.
