Dr. Karin Berendes, Dipl.-Log., studied Teaching and Research Logopedics at RWTH Aachen University. She did her Ph.D. at the Hannover Medical School in the research project “Impact of Different Methods of Treatment on Reading and Spelling Skills”. From 2010 to 2012, she worked as a research collaborate in stage 2 und 3 “From Kindergarten to Elementary School” of the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS). Moreover, Dr. Berendes joint the research project “Academic Language Proficiency” (Bildungssprachliche Kompetenzen – BiSpra) of the Research Initiative Language Diagnosis and Language Support (Forschungsinitiative Sprachdiagnostik und Sprachförderung – FiSS). Since January 2013 Dr. Berendes has been working as a research associate at the University of Tübingen as well as in NEPS stage 5 “From Upper Secondary School to Higher Education, Vocational Training, or the Labor Market”. Her research focuses on the connection of language skills and educational processes.
