Prof. Dr. Steffi Pohl is junior professor for methods and evaluation/quality assurance at the Free University Berlin. After studying psychology at the Free University Berlin and at the University of Hertfordshire, UK, she worked as a research assistant at the Department of Methodology and Evaluation Research (Prof. Dr. Rolf Steyer) at the Friedrich-Schiller University Jena. There she received her doctoral degree in psychology. She took up a position as a research assistant at the National Educational Panel Study (working with Prof. Dr. Claus Carstensen) at the Otto-Friedrich University Bamberg, where she was responsible for the scaling of the data from the competence assessment.
Her research focuses on psychometric modeling. She developed models for analyzing multitrait-multimethod data and did research on methodological issues of competence assessments. As such she worked, for example, on missing values in competence assessment, on the assessment of students with special educational needs, or on linking of test scores in longitudinal studies. Further research interests include causal inference in quasi-experimental designs.
